Brand-True Detail for Apparel, Hats, and Gear

Brand-True Detail for Apparel, Hats, and Gear

Woven labels are the unsung heroes of product branding. They carry your logo, size, care info, and origin with a premium feel that printed tags can’t match. In AquaPatches (a product of AquaDigitizing), we make woven labels that stay sharp after many wash cycles, with neat folds, sealed edges, and color-true weaves.

Woven labels: What Are They?

Woven labels are made by weaving fine threads into the label fabric itself to create your design. With thin, flexible, and long-lasting branding, you can:

  • Streetwear and apparel
  • Beanies and caps
  • Outdoor gear and bags
  • Textiles and accessories for the home
  • Fashion for kids and athleisure

Woven labels with AquaPatches

  • With high-resolution weave, you get crisp logos and clean microtext
  • Matches your fabric’s color: Brand-matched yarns
  • A neat finish: Heat-cut or ultrasonic cut with sealed edges that don’t fray
  • Folds for every job: center fold, end fold, mitre fold, loop fold, hem tags
  • Attachments: Sew-on, iron-on, or peel-and-stick
  • From sample runs to full production lines, low minimums and bulk tier.

Materials and grades on labels

  • Premium apparel with fine detail and a soft hand feel
  • Smooth sheen, perfect for special occasions
  • Labels for workwear and gear made of taffeta: Cost-effective and durable

Cuts, folds, and finishes

  • The center fold has text on both sides or a front mark with care info
  • End folds: Tidy left and right folds for neck or waist
  • An angled corner for hanger loops and outerwear hoods
  • For hems and tabs on cuffs, loop fold or book fold
  • It’s common for side seams and waistbands to be straight cut
  • Cut and seal: Heat or ultrasonic seal edges
  • The border keyline keeps edges looking crisp

Attachments, backings and Placements

  • Attachments and backings
    • The most secure and softest finish for necks and sides
    • For size tabs and accessory labels, iron-on heat seals are fast and easy to apply
    • For packaging, boxes, and display cards with adhesive peel-stick

Placements and sizes that work

  • The neck label should be 2 to 3 inches wide and 0.6 to 1.25 inches tall
  • Cuff labels and hem tabs: 0.75 to 1.5 inches
  • Labels on side seams: 0.4 to 0.8 inches tall
  • Care and composition labels: 1 to 2 inches wide, multi-panel or stacked if necessary
Your garment template is proofed at real scale, and any letter sizes that might collapse are flagged.

A comparison of woven labels, printed labels, and embroidered badges

woven

Labels are woven for durability, comfort, and fine detail; stay legible after washing

printed

Labels printed on paper are good for instructions and symbols, but they can fade faster if you machine wash them a lot

embroidered

Embroidered badges: High-profile branding for outer surfaces, not for labels

Guidance on compliance and content

  • If your market requires it, include fiber content, country of origin, and care instructions
  • Consider CPSIA tracking and placement preferences for kidswear
  • Make sure you use standard care symbols and don’t use anything that might irritate your skin

Here’s how to design the perfect woven label

  • Contrast is key: Dark fabrics need light yarns or frames
  • Make sure strokes and letter heights aren’t too low
  • Transform ultra-fine lines into solids or stepped patterns
  • Make sure you have a clear hierarchy: logo first, then size and care, then origin or batch information
  • Keep folds away from stitch zones: Plan folds early

(Quick) Application Guides

Embroidery (softest finish):

  1. Pin it on a flat surface.
  2. Make sure you stitch close to the edge with fine apparel thread.
  3. Prevent lift in the wash by securing corners.

For compatible fabrics, iron-on heat seal:

  1. Make sure the surface is firm and there’s no steam. Press for 3 to 5 seconds.
  2. Put a cotton cloth over it and press for 8 to 12 seconds.
  3. Flip and press 5 to 8 seconds on the reverse.
  4. Test corners after 30 to 60 seconds.
Short stitch lines are good for heavy laundering.

Longevity, Care and Pricing

Longevity and care

  • When you can, wash inside out on gentle
  • If you’re ironing labels, use a pressing cloth instead of direct heat
  • Damask is great for neck comfort and long-term clarity
  • Make sure first production wash tests are good before full rollout

Woven labels shine

  • A brand identity that feels as good as it looks
  • Performance and outdoor gear: Abrasion-resistant identity
  • Kidswear: Soft hand feel, secure stitching, and clear sizing
  • Composition and care info that matches brand tone

Costs: What drives them

  • Whether it’s damask, satin, or taffeta
  • Detail: weave density and colors
  • Cutting and sealing, end fold, mitre fold, hem tab
  • Sew-on versus heat seal, plus any adhesive kits
  • Scale brings down unit costs
We can suggest cost-saving tweaks without changing the look on the garment.
